JACKSON, Miss. (WTVA) -- The Mississippi Supreme Court will review the case of a man serving a life sentence in the stabbing death of his grandfather.

Brett Jones, 22, is serving a life sentence after a Lee County jury found him guilty of murder in the death of Bertis Jones.

Bertis Jones died after being stabbed several times with a steak knife at his home on County Road 509 in the Pleasant Grove community.

Brett Jones claims he received ineffective counsel during his trial.

The Mississippi Court of Appeals has already upheld the conviction.
