Mississippi Senator Bennie Turner laid to rest

WEST POINT, Miss. (WTVA) -- Hundreds bid farewell to stand out lawmaker and West Point Native Senator Bennie Turner.

Mississippi Governor Phil Bryant, Lieutenant Governor Tate Reeves and Secretary of State Delbert Hosemann were among a number of state officials who joined the many friends and members of the family for a memorial service in West Point Monday morning.

Senator Turner passed away Tuesday, November 27 after suffering from a brain tumor.

He was 64-years-old.

The man who shared a desk with Senator Turner-Senator Hob Bryan is among those who spoke before a huge crowd at the Third Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church.

Senator Turner was known for his devotion his family, church, his law practice and the Mississippi Senate.
