Man sentenced in pawn shop robbery

ABERDEEN, Miss. (WTVA) -- A Tupelo man man will serve federal prison time for the robbery of a Nettleton pawn shop.

Timothy Rydell Montgomery, 31, was sentenced this week for his role in the robbery of the Gold Exchange in July of 2009.

Montgomery pleaded guilty in January to charges of stealing a firearm from a licensed dealer and unlawful transport of a firearm.

During the robbery, Montgomery and another man entered the store and hit the clerk before taking several items, including firearms, and leaving the business.

Montgomery was sentenced to 10 years in prison, three years probation, and ordered to pay the pawn shop owner $11,000 in restitution.

Ryan Dandre Hearn, 21, of New Albany pleaded guilty to stealing a firearm from a licensed dealer on October 9 in connection with the robbery.

He will be sentenced at a later date.
