OXFORD, Miss. (WTVA) _ A Chickasaw County man will serve nine years in prison on federal drug and weapons charges.

James Evans, 29, of Okolona entered a guilty plea early this year to possession of more than 10 kilograms of cocaine with intent to distribute and a weapons charge.

Evans was arrested in a joint operation with federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies on July 21, 2011.

Authorities say they recovered nearly 26 pounds of cocaine and $30,000 in cash during a search of a home and vehicle.

He will serve five years probation when he is released from prison.
