OXFORD, Miss. (WTVA) - A Texas man will serve three years probation and repay money he illegally obtained in federal disaster relief following the April 2011 tornadoes.
A federal judge handed down the sentence to James W. Pulliam, 62, on Wednesday.
Court records say Pulliam claimed the home on County Road 406 in Houston was his primary residence when it was not.
Beard pleaded guilty Thursday to a charge of embezzling, stealing, or converting a voucher or money from the U. S. Government for his personal use in an amount over $1,000.
As part of his sentence, Pulliam must repay the assistance he was not entitled to receive.
Federal authorities say he has already repaid $15,000, but owes an additional $15,200.
