OXFORD, Miss. (WTVA) -- A federal judge has handed down a seven year prison sentence for a man charged in connection with the trafficking of cocaine in north Mississippi.
Jose Juan Rubio was sentenced after pleading guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance.
Rubio was arrested on November 27, 2011 in Missouri after agents said he made a delivery of 44 pounds of cocaine to Cedric Cotton at a truck stop in Arkansas.
Court documents say Cotton was stopped on Highway 78 in Union County and authorities found 44 pounds of cocaine in the vehicle.
Federal agents said Rubio admitted to make the delivery.
Federal prosecutors agreed to drop the other charges as part of the plea agreement.
Following the plea hearing, Rubio was taken into custody by the U. S. Marshal.
