Man sentenced for disaster relief fraud

OKOLONA, Miss. (WTVA) -- An Okolona man will spend 12 months and one day in prison on a federal charge of disaster fraud.

Ronnie G. Beard, 47, was sentenced Wednesday afternoon  in U. S. District Court in Aberdeen.

A federal indictment says Beard filed a fradulent disaster claim on a home in Okolona following the tornado in April of 2011.

He pleaded guilty to the charge July.

Beard was also ordered to serve three years probation and pay $8,611 in restitution.
