TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) -- An Attala County man has pleaded guilty to charges related to a shooting in Tupelo in December of 2011.

Leonard Brown, 29, pleaded guilty to aggravated assault and grand larceny during a hearing Friday in Lee County Circuit Court.

Brown was accused of asking two women for a ride at the Walmart on West Main Street on December 17, 2011.

When the women were in the area around Hancock Farm on Highway 6, authorities say Brown hit one of the women in the head, shot her, then took the car from the driver.

Brown was sentenced to 20 years for aggravated assault and five years for grand larceny.

He will serve the sentences consecutive to a 20 year sentence handed down for a probation violation.

Brown is currently in the Lee County jail waiting transfer to the Mississippi Department of Corrections.
