JACKSON, Miss. (WTVA) -- The Mississippi Court of Appeals has upheld the conviction of a man on statutory rape charges.
James Jennings, 29, pleaded guilty to the charges in Oktibbeha County Circuit Court and was sentenced to serve 20 years in prison.
He appealed, claiming the verdict was flawed because it did not list the name of the victim.
Jennings also claims the sentence didn't follow state law.
In their ruling on Tueday, the Mississippi Court of Appeals stated the indictment showed the victim was 13 and Jennings was 25 when the incident happened in April of 2008.
Judges also say Jennings signed off on the plea agreement and can't appeal the sentence he received.
