LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WTVA) -- A grand jury has indicted a New Hope man for opening fire on two Lowndes County police officers earlier this year.

Kenneth Coscia, 30, was formally charged in the Lowndes County Circuit Court this week on three counts of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer.

The judge also ordered Coscia to undergo a mental evaluation.

In March, two officers went to his home to check on the condition of someone inside. That's when he opened fire, striking both officers.

Investigators said those policemen have made full recoveries.

Coscia is being held without bail.
