HOUSTON, Miss. (WTVA) --  A Chickasaw County man is being held without bond in the stabbing death of his wife Sunday.

Investigators say Will Porter made an initial appearance in Chickasaw County Justice Court on Monday and was formally charged with murder.

The body of Amanda Porter, 23, was found inside her home on Highway 8 east of Houston.

The investigation started after a call about a car fire around 5:30 a.m.

Authorities say they determined it was Amanda Porter's car and went to the home to check on her when they found her body.

Coroner Andy Harmon says he is waiting on the preliminary autopsy results, but says Porter was stabbed multiple times with a kitchen knife.

Investigators say Will Porter will remain behind bars until a prelminary hearing takes place next month.
