BALDWYN, Miss. (WTVA)--Police say Nathaniel Tyra used this car to deliberately run over Justin Shaw on July 5 following an altercation at a Baldwyn apartment complex.
Chief of Police Troy Agnew and another officer responded to the call, but didn't find the car or victim.
"One had left walking supposedly. Me and my reserve officer went looking for him," said Agnew.
That's when they found Justin Shaw lying on the side of the road. Shaw was transported to the hospital and Tyra was arrested.
Shaw fought for his life for 12 days, but on Thursday he passed away.
Orginally, Tyra was charged with attempted murder, but the charge was upgraded when Shaw died.
"We picked him up last night, locked him back up, got in touch with his judge. He's under a $300,000 bond," Agnew continued.
The chief says the investigation continues.
