COLUMBUS, Miss. (WTVA) -- A Columbus man is facing charges following a high speed chase last month through parts of Lowndes and Monroe County.
Chief Deputy Mark Miley tells WTVA.com Phillip Edwin Parker, 51, of Barton Ferry Road is charged with two counts of aggravated assault on a law officer with a weapon and felony fleeing.
Miley says deputies went to Parker's home on December 12 to serve a warrant, but he wasn't home.
They left the home, but spotted him a few minutes later and attempted to stop him.
Parker took off and lead deputies on a pursuit through parts of Lowndes and Monroe County, during which authorities say he attempted to swerve into patrol vehicles involved in the chase.
After avoiding spike strips placed on the highway, the chase entered Columbus and Parker eventually pulled over and gave himself up.
Parker was hospitalized following the pursuit, and was charged last week after his release.
He is free on a $25,000 bond.
