HOUSTON, Miss. (WTVA) -- The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks will handle the investigation into a weekend hunting accident in Chickasaw County.
Agents say they were called to a report of a hunter who was shot on Sunday afternoon around 3:45 p.m.
The accident happened near County Road 125 near New Houlka.
The initial investigation shows the man shot himself in the leg while climbing down from a tree stand.
The man, whose name has not been released, was airlifted to a hospital for treatment.
Agents say they have not been able to talk to the man to learn more about what happened.
