BOONEVILLE, Miss. (WTVA) -- Despite an email to the contrary, the Booneville and Prentiss County Main Street Association manager is at work in her office.
An email was sent out stating Trudy Featherston was overseas when she was mugged and all her money and credit cards were taken.
It says she and her family have their passports, but the hotel won't let them leave until they pay their bill and they need financial help.
Featherston tells WTVA.com someone managed to hack into her email account and sent the email Monday morning to all her contacts.
She says she is working to correct the problem.
The phone number on the email was not the Main Street office, but is a Booneville phone number.
A man who answered the phone said Featherson did not live there and hung up.
