STARKVILLE, Miss. (WTVA) -- The Mississippi Highway Patrol says they are hosting an impaired driving simulator event at the Mississippi State University campus Wednesday.

MHP says the purpose of the event is to educate and increase awareness of the dangers of impaired driving.

At the event, anyone wanting to participate can drive a go-kart on a course while wearing impaired driving goggles.

The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. between the Colvard Student Union and the YMCA Building. MHP says its part of the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence's (NCADD) National Alcohol Awareness Month.

The Mississippi State University Health Education and Wellness Department and the MSU Police Department are partnering with MHP for the event.
