TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) -- This year Veterans Day is on Sunday, November 11, but some businesses will observe the holiday Monday as well.
We have a list of restaurants and companies who want to thank our veterans by providing them with discounts or a free meal.
Applebee's will give veterans a free meal on Sunday, November 11. There will be seven meals to choose from, but the beverage and gratuity will not be included. A military ID or proof of service is required.
Chili's is offering all military veterans, past and present, their choice of one of seven meals on Sunday, November 11. The offer is available from 11a.m.-5p.m. Beverage and gratuity will not be included. Veterans and active duty military will have to show proof of military service.
Krispy Kreme will give away a free doughnut to all active duty, retirees and veterans on Sunday, November 11.
On Sunday, November 11, LongHorn Steakhouse will give military veterans a complimentary Texas Tonion and non-alcoholic beverage. Proof of service is required.
On Sunday, November 11, from 5:30a.m.-10:30am, McDonald's will give all military veterans a free breakfast that includes a sausage biscuit, has brown and coffee. No drive-thru service; you will have to come inside. All you need is your military ID or a photo of yourself in uniform.
Subway Restaurants are offering a free six inch sub on Sunday, November 11 to military veterans. Also, in honor of veterans, Subway will donate $111,112 to the Wounded Warrior Project's economic empowerment program. *Please note not all Subway Restaurants participated in the free sub giveaway. T.G.I. Friday's is offering free lunch to veterans on Monday, November 12. A valid ID is required for all U.S. Military personnel and veterans.
Olive Garden is offering a free meal to veterans on November 11. Active military personnel and veterans will choose from a special menu, and all meals include freshly baked garlic sticks and a choice of soup or salad. Proof of service is required.
The Verona Civic Club invites all veterans to a pancake breakfast at the club at 153 Mattox Road on Monday, November 12 between 6:30a.m.-10:00a.m. All veterans will eat free. Spouses and others can eat for $5. For more information, call (662) 566-7905.
The American Legion family in Baldwyn will be hosting a BBQ plate dinner on Saturday, November 10 to honor beterans, active duty military and their families. A short program on the meaning of Veterans Day will start at 3p.m. and dinner will follow. The event takes place at the American Legion, post 130 in Baldwyn.
As part of the national bed and breakfasts for veterans program, The Cartney Hunt House and The Painted Lady of Columbus (both located in Columbus) are offering a free night on Sunday, November 11. Call ahead to see if you can get a reservation.
