ABERDEEN, Miss. (WTVA) -- Aberdeen Police Chief Henry Randle is under investigation by the Monroe County Sheriff's Department for his part in an alleged altercation with another police officer last Friday.
City attorney John Dudley Williams said Mayor Cecil Belle and aldermen met for about an hour Monday to discuss what happened between Randle and Officer Jason Franks.
The alleged fight apparently took place at the police department.
There is very little public information about what caused the fight and to what extent the two men fought.
Williams added that's why aldermen and the mayor decided an investigation is needed.
"I can't say if anything happened or didn't happen. I just know that there was a complaint made by an officer alleging that an altercation had taken place," said Williams.
The sheriff's department said it expects to have more answers in three or four days.
Neither Chief Randle nor Jason Franks was available for comment Monday afternoon.
