TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) -- North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo will soon move into its new west tower.

Six patient floors will move from their existing locations into the new part of the hospital.

Also moving is the hospital's Rehabilitation Institute.

On Thursday, an open house was held for the institute's employees to tour their new home on the fifth floor of the west tower.

"The exciting thing for us today is that the first unit that will be moving patients over will be One West, which is the Rehabilitation Institute or the Inpatient Rehab Unit of the hospital," said Angie Everitt, NMMC's Rehabilitation Institute Director. "We're going to be moving our patients over on Tuesday."

The unit has 28 beds where patients will receive physical therapy.

Hospital officials said the entire west bed tower is being buit at a cost of $55 million.
