CORINTH, Miss. (WTVA) -- Alcorn County Sheriff Charles Rinehart has something to smile about.  Weeks of work have paid off.

"They have put a lot into this. It's been a lot of stress on them for the last two or three weeks getting ready for this," Sheriff Rinehart said.

They've been getting ready for the American Correctional Association inspection.

ACA President and Mississippi Department of Corrections Commissioner Christopher Epps says it's so tough only a small percentage of correctional facilities in this country have earned their seal of approval.

"Very thorough look at staffing, look at security practices, environment, sanitation and just an array of things and quality of life. Not only for the inmates, but quality of life as far as the staff. To receive a score of 99.7 and then a perfect score of 100 on the mandatory standard is exceptional," Epps said.

"We pooled together and pulled it off and hopefully, we'll keep this up and the next three years we want that 100. Corrections is a team effort. One man can't come in and do anything. It's a team effort," Warden Doug Mullins said.

The sheriff says it takes a team effort to make sure all procedures and policies are followed and to be able to prove that to inspectors.
