TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) - The Lee County Board of Supervisors awarded a bid on Thursday to clear the way for renovation work on the board's planned future home.
Supervisors plan to move into the former home of the Community Development Foundation on Main Street in downtown Tupelo.
Right now, the board has offices and a boardroom in the Lee County Justice Center.
County Administrator Sean Thompson tells WTVA.com that the bid was just over $400,000 and was awarded to Dan Walker and Associates of Memphis.
Thompson says they still plan to try to work with the company to lower the cost even more.
He says part of the work to be done includes removal of asbestos and constructing walls for office space.
Thompson says the new facility will allow the supervisors to provide a more serviceable facility for the public.
The bid is scheduled to be signed July 2.
