LEE COUNTY, Miss. (WTVA) -- They're new and improved and joined by another two.

Lee County has just added two severe weather sirens in Mooreville and Saltillo.

Six older sirens have been upgraded in other areas.

Lee County Emergency Management Agency Director Lee Bowdry says $125,000 in federal grant money is being used to improve coverage.

Lee County covered five percent of the costs for the sirens.

"This is a great thing for Mooreville and we've got more coverage in Saltillo also," Bowdry said.

Bowdry says they will test the sirens Saturday, March 2 from 10 a.m. until Noon.
