TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) - The next director of the Lee County Agri-Center could be named in about one month's time.

Supervisors met Wednesday in a closed-door session with a representative of a citizens group to discuss job candidates.

Part of the advisory board's responsibility is coming up with a director for the facility.

Out of 27 candidates to apply, six of them have been interviewed.

A decision on a director could be announced within the next month, and supervisors say that person must be versatile in the job.

Supervisor Bobby Smith said, "Especially from the standpoint of various ages that will be down there from senior citizens to children. When you appoint a director, it's got to be someone who has the ability to deal with the span of people age wise that's going to be there."

Also at the meeting, representatives from Three Rivers Planning and Development District were there for a public hearing on infrastructure improvements in the Tupelo-Lee South
Industrial Park.

A $166,000 grant is being applied for to bring upgrades for a future Ashley Furniture expansion.

Sixty new jobs are expected to be created.
