ABERDEEN, Miss. (WTVA) -- A lawsuit filed by three men who were arrested at an Aberdeen High School graduation ceremony in May of 2011 will be heard in federal court.
The case of Marvin Williams, Robert Williams, and Robert Fells was transfered from Monroe County Circuit Court.
In the lawsuit, the men claimed they were escorted out of the graduation ceremony by two officers.
The suit claims the Robert Williams was thrown to the ground while handcuffed and suffered injuries to his face.
They claim officers used a taser on Marvin Williams when he attempted to leave the school, and Fells was handcuffed.
The civil lawsuit claims the officers used excessive force, violated the men's due process rights, and took part in malicious prosecution.
The suit lists the city of Aberdeen, the Aberdeen School District, then school superintendent Robert Eiland, Police Chief Henry Randle, officer NaKeith Strickland, and officer Michael Walker.
The filing asks for damages and other costs associated with the lawsuit.
