JACKSON, Miss. (WTVA) — A state representative has filed a bill that would consolidate the Starkville and Oktibbeha County school districts into one district.
The measure by Rep. Toby Barker, a Republican from Hattiesburg, calls for the formation of the Starkville Consolidated School District to happen on or before July 1, 2015.
The state took over the Oktibbeha County School District last year after failing to meet state standards.
Barker's proposal has been sent to the House Education Committee for consideration.
