Jury reaches guilty verdict in capital murder trial

OXFORD, Miss. (WTVA)- A jury has found Franklin Fitzpatrick, 28, guilty of capital murder in the shooting death of a Tippah County Sheriff's deputy.

Court officials confirmed the verdict to WTVA.com around 8:30 p.m.

Fitzpatrick of Pontotoc was on trial in the shooting death of Deputy Dewayne Crenshaw. 

Crenshaw was responding to a disturbance call on County Road 500 in Tippah County around 4 a.m. on December 3, 2010.

A sentencing hearing for Fitzpatrick will be tomorrow at 9 a.m. at the Lafayette County Courthouse.
