ECRU, Miss. (WTVA) - Students at North Pontotoc Elementary School participated Friday in the 6th annual Jump Rope for Heart event in which the children jump rope and perform other physical activities to raise money for the American Heart Association.

The goal is to fight heart disease and stroke.

"We've raised money...for the past five years," said physical education instructor Tim Norris. "It's been $25,000 that we've raised for that. And it's a good community project for the kids, and it goes for a good cause."

He says both the North Mississippi Medical Center and Baptist Memorial Hospital are supporters of the effort.
