ECRU, Miss. (WTVA) - The annual Jump Rope for Heart brought North Pontotoc kindergarten through fourth grade students to the school gym.
Some of the young people seemed to master the jump rope while others struggled a bit.
Besides jumping rope, the students also took part in other physical activities like a rock climbing wall and shooting basketball.
The young people get donations from their parents and others, with all money collected going to the American Heart Association.
Physical education teacher Tim Norris said, "They just get donations. They just come in and do different stations in our gym."
The students had a blast and told us how all of this helps them stay fit.
One student said, "I like shooting the hoops."
Another student said, "It helps pump your heart."
A student also replied, "You can get strong muscles. You can grow up and be really strong."
Teacher Tim Norris added, "This is also about health in the classroom and community service. Volunteers come in and help out. The kids really have a good time."
The teachers say they hope their students learn to keep moving and keep helping others throughout their lives.
