BOONEVILLE, Miss. (WTVA) -- The trial of a woman charged in the shooting death of her mother came to an abrupt end when a medical problem forced the judge to declare a mistrial.

Rebecca Lynn Jones, 48, of Lexington, Alabama was on trial in Prentiss County Circuit Court in the shooting death of Jane Jones, 66, at a home on Highway 4 near Booneville in May of 2010.

Wednesday morning, her attorney notified the judge his client was in intensive care in an Alabama hospital.

The judge declared a mistrial Wednesday afternoon.

He did issue an order saying Jones would be taken into custody when she was released from the hospital and would be held without bond in the Prentiss County jail until she could be tried again.

He also ordered her to pay the costs for holding this trial and for the subsequent re-trial.
