TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) -- Friday morning when Norma Yielding arrived at work she found out that it would be one of her last days to clock in, and she says she was immediately filled with emotions.

"Sad, Upset, You know I am loosing a job," says Yielding.

A job that she has had for 21 years.

She is the manager at the Hostess store on McCullough Boulevard in Tupelo which employs 18 people including delivery drivers that had nine routes in the area.

All are now without jobs, but Yielding says they aren't the only ones who will suffer from this seeing as most of her business comes from small business owners.

"I have been in business for 15 years and I rely on this," says Topps Deli Owner Willie Topp. "Now, I have to go hunting for other items. Some of the items I won't be able to replace. I just don't know it's a big uncertainty."

The door to the Tupelo Hostess store has been opening and closing all day with customers trying to get in and get the last of the products.

A lot of them say it's an extra sad day because it seems a piece of their childhood is being taken away.

"Just about all my life I have been eating Hostess cakes," says Sheneka Sims. "I don't know what I am going to do without them being here. It's a sad day for me."

"It's just so tragic that my kids can't grow up eating Hostess cakes," says Kenny Sims. "I mean, this is a big deal."

Employees at the Tupelo Hostess store say they also have stores in Corinth and Oxford that are going out of business, and for those employees is the lingering question, What's next?

"I don't know," say Yielding. "They are supposed to call me sometime today, and let me know whether I pack up all this stuff or we will try to sell and get rid of it."

If the Hostess Corporation decides not to sell remaining products employees here say they aren't sure what will be done with the existing baked goods.

Hostess stores in Corinth and Tupelo will open their doors for the last time at 9a.m. Saturday morning, and the Oxford store will open at 10a.m.
