PONTOTOC, Miss. (WTVA) -- There's a new home in Pontotoc County for dogs determined to be vicious.
The Pontotoc County Adult Detention Center is the setting for a relatively modest kennel.
Pontotoc County Supervisors looked at a total of three sites before deciding on the detention center location.
Supervisor Dennis Corder says the jail is an ideal spot because inmate labor can be used to feed the animals and keep the kennel clean.
"We've got a start. We'll just have to grow into the facility as our county's needs occur. We might have to enlarge our pens if they start having more," Corder said.
Pontotoc County Supervisors passed a vicious dog ordinance following the death of a man who was mauled by dogs.
