LOWNDES CO., Miss. (WTVA) -- Two people from Columbus are behind bars, facing charges, following a high speed chase through Columbus on Monday, September 16.

According to the Lowndes County Sheriff's Department, Latonya Shelton, 28, led agents with the Lowndes Co. Narcotics Unit and sheriff's deputies on a chase on the north side of Columbus.

Investigators say deputies cornered Shelton, who was driving on Military Road, and took her into custody.

Authorities say Antwon Jordan, 44, who was a passenger in the vehicle, jumped out of the car and fled on foot.  He was captured after a short foot chase by narcotics agents.

Jordan is charged with resisting arrest and possession of cocaine with intent to distribute.

Shelton is charged with felony eluding and possession of cocaine with intent to distribute.

Agents say they seized about one ounce of powder cocaine and more than $8,000 in cash.

Authorities say they are continuing to search for a third man inside the vehicle who fled on foot.

Later, a search warrant was executed at a residence on Spann Lane that was being rented by Jordan and Shelton.

Agents say they found various items used to make crack cocaine, cocaine spice and a firearm that was reported stolen in Lowndes County.

Jordan and Shelton are also charged with possession of a stolen firearm.

They are being held at the Lowndes County Adult Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing.
