BOONEVILLE, Miss. (WTVA) -- "It's constant, constant, constant," Consultant John Lindsey said.
Constant planning is key to success, according to Lindsey.
He is being called on for advice by the Booneville and Prentiss County Main Street Association.
"You have to just continue to do it, continue to find out what's unique about your particular business and then make sure that you communicate that to the public," Lindsey added.
What keeps the doors open takes more than a sign.
It takes passion backed with a solid plan.
That makes sense to Misty Eaton. She and her husband look to social media to get the word out. Good customer service is getting them business, but it's a challenge.
"We've been here for two years and still some people don't know we're here, so we just keep pressing on," Eaton said.
"You might know who you are, but you need to make sure the public knows who you are," Lindsey said.
Dr. Tate Hill says customer service keeps him on the radar.
"We try to give a really great service and that kind of spreads around and brings more people in," Hill stated.
Lindsey says marketing begins with a vision followed by at least a one year plan. Networking is key as well as sharing what you can offer directly with the public through a media mix.
Lindsey says the biggest mistake someone can make is to expect results without a plan.
