JACKSON, Miss. — The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development estimates that homelessness in Mississippi increased from 2011 to 2012.
According to the agency's estimate, there was a 4.6 percent rise in the Magnolia State.
HUD reported 2,413 homeless people in Mississippi. It's a jump of 107 from the previous year.
The agency said there were increases among the chronically homeless as well as among homeless veterans.
