FULTON, Miss. (WTVA) - The sweet smell of barbecue will fill the air in Itawamba County this weekend as the Itawamba County Development Foundation sponsors its first ever Stand by Your Grill cookoff.

Several professional cookers are already lining up for a chance to win first place in this event.

It will take place Saturday at the Jamie Whitten Historical Center and Campgrounds near Fulton.

Some 40 teams from seven states will be on hand.

"A lot of the places we cook, they are not that cooker friendly," says Pete Boone of Huntsville, Ala.  "We cook on asphalt and parking lots.  It's hot -- a 100 degrees -- but we're looking forward to this one."

The competition is sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbecue Society.

It will coincide with a festival in downtown Fulton where the kids will have a cookoff.
