MOOREVILLE, Miss. (WTVA) -- Ever hear of the Great Central U.S. ShakeOut?

That's the name of an earthquake drill that is held during Severe Weather Awareness Week.

Mooreville Elementary School students assumed the recommended position during a drill held Thursday morning.

The "drop, cover and hold on" method is practiced.

Students are advised to drop to the ground, take cover under a sturdy table or other piece of furniture and hold on until the shaking stops if there is ever an earthquake.

"They are really good at this drill. They understand that it's important to be quick, quiet and to stay put until they know that the drill is over," Mooreville Elementary School teacher Paula Barton said.
