MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WTVA) -- A grant will help improve forensic investigations in the state of Alabama.

On Wednesday, Governor Robert Bentley announced the award of $98,923 to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences.

The grant will fund upgrades to the department’s Information Technology section and the purchase of laboratory and morgue supplies.

It will also provide for training and travel costs.

The Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs is administering the grant from funds made available to the state by the U.S. Department of Justice.
