BRILLIANT, Ala. (WTVA) -- A long-vacant building in Marion County, Alabama is getting financial assistance to assist a new industry who purchased the property.

Governor Robert Bentley on Tuesday announced a $200,000 Community Development Block Grant to the town of Brilliant to do infrastructure work at the former Brilliant Homes Manufactured Housing facility on Highway 129.

Stone Canyon Cabins recently purchased property and plans to open a plant.

Brilliant officials say the building has been vacant for nearly two decades and the sewer system at the plant needs to be replaced to prevent wastewater runoff from flowing into Bostic Creek.

The work will include new lines, manholes, and a lift station and officials say the upgrades will benefit other businesses near the site.
Stone Canyon Cabins expects to employ 20 people when they begin operations.
