JACKSON, Miss. (WTVA) -- The U.S. Postal Service is looking to contract out some of the work that was handled through the town's post office before the April 27 tornado.

Being sought is a business that would host post office boxes, sell postage and accept packages that need to be mailed.

Doug Kyle, Mississippi's consumer affairs manager for the U.S. Postal Service, says there are no plans to rebuild the post office in Smithville.

He says mail carriers serving the Smithville area will continue to work out of the post office in Amory.

Any business interested in contracting with the government to provide post office services must send a letter or email that contains a name, mailing address, phone number and email address, if applicable.

Letters must be sent to Retail Manager, United States Postal Service, PO Box 99670, Jackson, MS 39205-9670.

Emails must be sent to ndunaway@usps.gov.

Those letters and emails will be accepted now through June 22.
