TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) - A group of Girl Scouts visited HealthWorks for a field trip on Saturday.
Both Brownies and Juniors learned how to spring into action in the event of an injury or accident.
Scout Day teaches the girls how to save someone's life by calling 911.
The girls also learned a procedure called "Check, Call and Care"; it's about checking the area in the event of an emergency, then calling 911 and staying with an injured person until help arrives.
Besides learning some tips in what to do in the event of a real-life emergency from a paramedic, the girls also made portable first-aid kits that they can take with them to scouting and sporting events.
"There are so many things that they may be doing, extracurricular activities, soccer, basketball...maybe taking a hike with their friends," adds Julie Hill, HealthWorks educator. "With the Girl Scouts, it's so important to know these basic life skills until help or an adult can arrive."
