ATLANTA, Ga. (WTVA) -- Georgia-Pacific is developing plans to invest in its production facilities and boost manufacturing of plywood and timber.

The company says they would expand and make equipment upgrads and has set aside nearly $400 million for the work.

The company is evaluating facilities in a number of southern states, including Grenada, and Louisville, Missisippi and Fayette, Alabama.

Pending site selection, GP officials say start-up would be expected in the second half of 2014 or the early part of 2015.

Company officials did not mention whether the move would create additional jobs, but say the effort will increase the companies overall plywood and timber capacity by 20 percent.
