TUPELO, Miss. -- Waste Management says it will continue garbage and trash collection in the Lee County area, but delays for some residents are expected.

County and municipal officials agreed Waste Management could service some parts, but other areas and streets were deemed unfit for operations due to residual storm effects.

Waste Management says those areas will be serviced as soon as safe operation is available.

In the meantime, all household garbage and trash, such as food, diapers and regular household waste, should be placed curbside separate of storm debris.

Waste Management says items such as rugs, furniture, sheet rock, wood fencing, tree limbs, bags of clothing, refrigerators, household appliances and roofing materials are considered storm debris and will be collected by other service providers.

Officials say separating household trash from storm debris will allow storm cleanup contractors to identify and collect the debris easier.
