EUPORA, Miss. (WTVA) -- Last week's fire at the Webster County Courthouse in Walthall destroyed the majority of the almost 100-year-old structure.
Since then, county officials haven't wasted a second getting business back on track.
"The Board of Supervisors decided that they would like to keep court personnel in one spot together — everyone in the same building if we could. It was decided that the Justice Court building where we are is the place were we could put everybody," said Deputy Sheriff Jimmy Forrester.
The Justice Court building in Eupora is currently under renovation and will be the new location for the chancery clerk's office, the circuit clerk's office, the tax assessor's office and the purchasing agent's office.
Forrester said he was very surprised by the amount of documents that were able to be recovered from the fire last Thursday.
But the main focus now is the goal of getting the Eupora Justice Court ready for everyone to move in very soon.
"What we hope to happen right now, what our goal is, is to have all of our personnel in their offices here and to be up and running no later than 8 a.m. Monday," added Forrester.
All renovations to the Justice Court building should be done by the end of this weekend.
