Former cemetery owner sentenced

PRENTISS COUNTY, Miss. (WTVA) - A former funeral home and cemetery owner pleaded guilty to four charges related to his November indictment on the of the misappropriation of pre-need burial and funeral care funds.

Late Friday a judge sentenced Wayne Hight to four years in prison, ordered him to pay $565,588 in restitution and to sign over the title of his business property to the state.

Hight pleaded guilty to two charges in Prentiss County and two charges in Alcorn County. Hight used to own the Oaklawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Booneville and owned Forrest Memorial Park in Corinth at the time of his indictment.

An investigation by the Secretary of State's office, Prentiss County and Alcorn County authorities led to Hight's indictment.
