HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP) -- Forecasters say motorists in northern Alabama should keep an eye out for icy patches on roads as temperatures hover near freezing and light snow falls in some areas.

Al.com reports the National Weather Service in Huntsville issued a hazardous weather statement Saturday morning saying light snow showers remain possible in the Tennessee Valley through Saturday afternoon.

The weather alert affects 11 Alabama counties -- Lauderdale, Colbert, Franklin, Lawrence, Limestone, Madison, Morgan, Marshall, Jackson, DeKalb and Cullman.

Forecasters say little to no accumulation is expected from any snowfall Saturday as high temperatures are expected to push into the upper 30s.

A storm system moving into the area is expected to bring a chance of rain and storms early next week.
