CLINTON, Miss. (WTVA/AP) -- First lady Michelle Obama came to Mississippi Wednesday to congratulate the state for a more than 13 percent drop in its child obesity rate.
She made her comments during an appearance at a school near Jackson with television chef Rachael Ray.
Mrs. Obama credited education officials for taking steps to address the obesity issue, such as serving more fruits and vegetables to students.
About one third of U.S. children are overweight or obese.
