TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) - Film enthusiasts and movie buffs gathered in Tupelo Saturday morning at the Convention and Visitors Bureau for a film alliance.

The guest speaker was Mississippi's own Ward Emling.

Emling serves as the director of the Mississippi Film Office.

Regarded as an industrial developer, his talk focused on the opportunities in the film industry and the future of the business in the Magnolia State.

Emling encouraged local and independent film makers to take advantage of the state's traditions and heritage to launch their careers.

"We think that you know we have a great heirtage of story telling here," said Emling. "We want our people to tell our stories. I think the more we can encourage local film makers you know the better off we're going to be."

The Mississippi Film Office works exclusively with local and national film makers to make sure they find the right locations in the state when shooting a movie.
