WEST POINT, Miss (WTVA) -- Friday, a grieving family remembered their loved ones.

“They’ve already been writing on Facebook/Instagram that they are going to miss him at church. He’s a good person," said Lasondra Tallie, a niece of the victim.

Not much remains of the West Point home after flames ripped through the structure that’s been in the family for generations, Thursday night.

“Everyone grew up in that home, including the grandkids, including me,” said Lasondra.

But the fire took more from this family than a home. It also claimed the lives of Alvin and Fetenia Tallie, Lasondra Aunt and Uncle.

“It was just surreal- that’s how I can describe it,” said Tammy Pointer, a niece of the victims.

Both nieces live next door to the home but were asleep when the fire started.

“Our cousin came and knocked on the door and she was like, grandma’s house is on fire. Get up! Get up,” said Pointer.

Relatives that live in close proximity to the home, sprung into action the two say, successfully removing two from the raging inferno. Bobby Joe Tallie, who’s recovering from injuries at North Mississippi Medical Center and a child who was unharmed; however, Alvin and Fetenia didn’t make it.

“Alvin, he could have gotten out, as we understand but he went back for his wife,” said Pointer

Right now, family members say the loss is hard to swallow.

“It’s going to be a lot to deal with but we’re going to get through it together as a family,” said Pointer.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
