PONTOTOC, Miss. (WTVA)-In most communities there are service agencies that can help those in need during tough times.

College Senior Asya Green says before she was a social work major she had no idea services even existed, but now that she does she wants to let everyone know about them.

"I took care of my grandmother, and I didn't know that agencies offered in home services to give the caregiver a break," says Green. "I didn't know about any of it. A lot of things are new to me. A few things I already knew, but one of the most amazing things is there are people that are seriously paying the power bill. Right now a lot of people need that because it is over 100 degrees outside. A lot of elderly people are living on a once a month income and after groceries and rent there really isn't a whole lot left over."

Green is hosting a For Your Information Resource Fair, where service agencies will set up booths to let the entire community know what they can do to help, and Green says the fair is for anyone.

"We don't think about these things like services until everything is crashing down and you need these services," says Green. "It is good to know about them before that happens."

Green has been working with Three Rivers Area Agency as an intern for the summer, and says learning all they ways that agencies can help, and seeing clients get assistance is worth all the work agencies put in.

"They are just so appreciative, says Green. "They want to see you there, they welcome you into their homes. We only do visits here once a month, but when you see them they are glad to see you."
