JACKSON, Miss. (WTVA) — The FBI is warning Mississippians not to respond to an email said to be from the agency.

People in the Magnolia State have received an email containing an FBI alert about someone they've been in contact with online.

The FBI said Wednesday clicking on the embedded link in that email could lead to your computer getting a virus.

Daniel McMullen, the special agent in charge of the FBI in Mississippi, said the agency does not send unsolicited emails to the public.
